KPVU LAUNCHES INNOVATIVE UMBRELLA

The New Panther Newspaper is set to Return in October 2024!

Tony Clomax, Director of Film and Television Production and Assistant Professor of Film and Communications at Prairie View A&M University has stepped into a new leadership role, overseeing the creation of the innovative KPVU Media Umbrella. KPVU is proud to announce the return of the New Panther Newspaper, which will be integrated into this newly established media umbrella.

The goal is to actively engage faculty and students in KPVU-TV, KPVU 91.3, PVU-KNO, The New Panther Newspaper, and Panther Podcast, creating a comprehensive media ecosystem. This initiative aims to provide students with practical insights, professional development, and the confidence to lead in the ever-evolving media industry. The Panther Newspaper, a digital publication, is set to launch in September 2024, featuring creative articles posted daily, aiming to foster a more connected and informed campus community.

KPVU-TV is committed to providing students with a platform to express their creativity in production, with plans to produce over a dozen weekly shows. These shows will cover various topics, including news, Sports, Entertainment, Talk, and Special Interest. These Special Interest shows will spotlight contributions from the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, College of Education, College of Business, College of Architecture, College of Engineering, and the Physics Department. Panther Podcast and KPVU 91.3 are introducing a new, informative sound to campus, aiming to produce eight weekly video podcasts in addition to their current programming.

The historic Hilliard Hall at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), home to the KPVU 91.3 radio and KPVU-TV station, is currently in phase one renovations to create the KPVU Multi-media Lab. This innovative state-of-the-art facility will feature a Multimedia Digital Audio Lab, Digital SoundEngineering Hub, Podcast Room, Computer Lab, and updates to the spaces that KPVU 91.3 and the student-run PVU-KNO. Tony Clomax is proud to take on the leadership of KPVU and to successfully assist in the evolution.

Our primary mission is to offer students comprehensive academic, technical, and professional training, with a focus on representation and inclusivity in the media landscape. We also aim to build meaningful connections with PV Alumni, faculty, staff, students, and the surrounding communities of Waller and Harris County. Our goal is to connect, inform, educate, and entertain both the PV community and the wider local area.
